Lucid dream – Limelight moments with my grandmother and Christopher Walken

A walk in the park? No somewhere else with present company

Christopher Walken, appeared, standing amongst random people, smiling. One of my grandmothers Elsie was there in another room, like their old garage, which used to be filled with small-scale to large crystalline rocks & gem stones, one of the largest private collections in Australia. But they were gone, only theatrical props & strange things, lined the corridor, I was at home, either way. My grandmother was talking to some guy about all the paintings, I was like a ghost, observing from a wallflower perspective, however one particular painting was brought close to my standpoint, I think my sister must have painted it. It was good. Unframed, a random shape, I was in awe. A boy sat next to me chatting whilst I was trying to recall my pin, others waiting in the space chatting away in close proximity. Like clockwork, the young boy seemed to know the numbers, I tried to shied all. Then the scene slightly shifted to a festival vibe with other random people in it. A large warehouse, people rollerblading or something, moving faster than we’re able to possibly do. Christopher Walken came back in the room, I heard his name announced, however to me no introduction necessary, I knew his face so well. Christopher knew his placement in the room, he bathed in the limelight, still smiling his face off. The main room I was part of, led off to smaller rooms, of their own unique underground parties, I walked through the main room which had mannequins haphazardly piled, dim lighting shot through areas, red & pink hues. I went to find my bag & there were people sleeping in this room I didn’t know, wires crossed to clarity, this wasn’t my grandmothers or a familiar place. Then I knew it was a dream. I felt the music, room infiltrate, mixed emotions, I could feel everything. Then, awake.

This lucid dream and memories after from my awakened state, was reminiscent to me of the Horden Pavilion dance parties when it was thriving. A blur to the outfits, faces, glittering mayhem, sharp haircuts, looks, dancing.. All amazing, freaky to grimy scenes as one.

Breadcrumbs to moments lost in nostalgia, hello music clips

A few days ago, my partner was watching random YouTube videos, and one came on of Christopher Walken, titled ‘Googly Eyes Gardener’. For sure it was the feed to my mind for his entry into my lucid dream.

For my dissertation as part of my degree, I unfortunately can’t recall the main subject, all I recall was the decision to write about several music videos. Religiously watching them, proud as punch that this topic of great interest; was actually part of my studies. From the 70’s styled, with much hilarity mayhem of the Beastie Boys ‘Sabotage’ to Björk’s ‘It’s Oh So Quiet’. To Fat Boy Slim’s ‘Weapon of Choice’ featuring Christopher Walken, dancing through the lobby and throughout the deserted hotel foyers with a dead pan expression. I recall my teacher at the time stating ‘all the more modern clips aren’t as good as the older ones and it’s all been done before’. She admitted down the track, after viewing these music videos, were of a different calibre.

Music for me like for most people, has always been a large part of my life. Embedded nostalgia within tracks, keys to our past and present. I chose to live the chorus part to Björk’s ‘It’s Oh So Quiet’ which is louder in this part of her the song, turning up the volume in terms to my creations and way. Incorporating fun and mayhem from the Beasties, with some sprinkled fruitiness from the much-loved dancer, Christopher Walken.

Note – Yes Beastie Boys re ticket reference from the Horden Pavilion featured isn’t re the dance category talked about, but associated further down this blog piece. I saw them here amongst other Sydney venues and outdoor festivals. LOVE them ..and Faith No More.. and..
